Most of us plan to travel through Europe or wherever else one day or another with his(her) Toyota. In this regard, could we find a way of sharing our personal GPS tracklogs in a way other than emailing our files to each others?
In fact, I think of a place where members can upload files, let's say into a temporary directory on a server. Then these files could be checked by one or several authorized members and transferred onto a file server so that we could share these secured files with the whole community. What do you think of this? Can we afford that?
Or else, we could use the following site : www.FavoriteWay.com
They have a 4wd section.
Personally, I can share tracklogs or waypoints from West Africa, Brazil and France. |

Great!
may I suggest that all tracklogs should be sent exclusively in a GPX format so that all kind software could read them, including Google Earth? |

| Yes, I agree. Now I´ve just to find a good solution for uploading - like an open FTP account or sth else. |

OK, guys...what file format do you need to share the trackpoints? Please only "pure" formats, no ZIP (as ZIP files can contain everything, even malware).
As soon as I know, I´m activating the upload function for those files and we can start. |

Hi I am using Garmin's MapSource and the Garmin GPS Database files - .gdb
It's good to put also .pdf with roadbooks and maps. |

OK...
I installed a new section named "Travelling" which contains all travelling topics like general information, warnings - and, of course, the new forum called "Tracklogs".
In "Tracklogs" you can upload .gdb and .pdf files. If you need any more endings, please tell me.
At the moment, there´s a limit of 265 kb per file. Should be enough, am I right?
Otherwise we´ve got to activate an FTP account. |

To me, the most versatile format would be the .gpx format. gdb is only useable by Garmin products. gpx format is read by all makes of GPS softwares, it is also directly usable by google earth.
Besides, it is a text format that you can edit with notepad. |
